Guests include Theatre, Music, Film, Beauty and experts who reside or are in NYC Owner Suzanna Bowling talks with Liz Abzug, a powerhouse in public service, urban development, and women's leadership. As the Founder and President of the Bella Abzug Leadership Institute (BALI), named in honor of her legendary mother, Liz has devoted her career to empowering the next generation of women and nonbinary leaders. A respected professor at Barnard College/Columbia University, she teaches courses on urban studies, community development, and a groundbreaking curriculum she co-created: Women and Leadership in the 20th and 21st Century. Liz's expertise spans decades of impact, including roles as a national public affairs strategist, human rights advocate, and candidate for New York City public office. Throughout her career, Liz has held high-level positions at every level of government. Under Governor Mario Cuomo, she served as New York State's Chief Lobbyist in Washington, D.C., representing all economic development agencies, and later led operations at the Empire State Development Corporation, directing resources to distressed communities. As Deputy Commissioner of New York's Human Rights Enforcement Agency, she played a key role in amending state law to protect people living with HIV/AIDS. She has served on numerous civic boards and task forces, including the New York State Commission on Domestic Violence and the Governor's Gay Rights Task Force. Named one of Women's eNews' 21 Leaders for the 21st Century, Liz Abzug is also a dynamic public speaker, art collector, and former contemporary gallery owner, continuing to bridge activism, entrepreneurship, and public impact with unwavering vision.
