Today on Live From the Hotel Edison, owner Suzanna Bowling sat down with musical theater book writer and lyricist Peter Kellogg. For the 1992 production of the Broadway musical Anna Karenina, he received two 1993 Tony Award nominations, for Best Book of a musical and for the Best Original Score. He also wrote the lyrics and book for Desperate Measures receiving the New York Musical Theatre Festival 2006 award for Excellence in Musical Theatre Writing (Book), the Outer Critics Circle and Off-Broadway Alliance Awards for Best Musical. On June 3, 2018, Kellogg won the 2018 Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Lyrics for Desperate Measures. On March 19th his newest show Monte Cristoopens at The York Theatre with a stellar cast. It begins previews March 12th. This sweeping musical adaptation of Alexandre Dumas' beloved novel, Monte Cristo about a man wrongfully imprisoned who returns richer, wiser and bent on vengeance. But as his carefully orchestrated plan unfolds, he must face the ultimate question: is justice enough without love?
