Veterans: Bob Bovtich: Vietnam Veteran shares story to help fellow veterans

When I was working as the Mortuary officer I had to inspect all bodies etc. A friend of mine, who use to work for me and who is a highly decorated Vietnam chopper pilot told me that I was sick. I told him no I was not sick. He gave me a card with a doctor’s name and phone number and asked me to call him. I called the doctor and went to see him. The doctor examined me for 2 days and found out that I have PTSD. From that day on my fight began with the VA. I fought the VA for 3 years and was turned down 5 times. I went to my Vietnam Veterans reunion in 2005 to meet with my brothers that I served with to get their help with my case. Their were 135 of us there but known of the guys knew me. I was shocked and ran out the building and headed to the Traveling Wall. When I got to the wall I placed my hands on it and asked the Lord to take me home.

Since that day I have written 8 books to honor and support our veterans and they are,
Reflections from the life of a Vietnam veteranLet them never be forgottenTribute to the gold star mothersTribute to the Patriot Guard RidersWords from the heartIn God we trustA day in the life of this Vietnam VeteranBrothers, Sisters and Family forever
I helped start the Vietnam Veterans of America chapter 902 in Warner Robins Ga. I also belong to the VFW Post 6605 in Warner Robins. I also do hospital visits to the VA hospital in Dublin Ga, plus I go to the War Veterans home in Milledgeville Ga.

I also go to the confederate pow site where the union troops were held. It is now the National POW/MIA museum plus military cemetery. The union lost over 13 thousand troops and most of them are buried there.
