Week 3 Recap, Special Teams History, and More Jags/Fins Heartbreak

In this episode, Alex and I give our views of the Week 3 slate, which saw history, crazy finishes, and even rants. First, we talk about Chargers quarter Justin Herbert coming of age in a 30-24 AFC west showdown over the Chiefs. In a matchup against Patrick Mahomes, the second-year sensation responded with four touchdowns without committing a turnover. Meanwhile, the Chiefs committed four turnovers. Then, we look into two special teams historic moments. First, Ravens kicker Justin Tucker broke the NFL record with a 66-yard field goal to give the Ravens a 19-17 win over the Detroit Lions. We also look at Jacksonville Jaguars return man Jamal Agnew's 109-yard return on a 68-yard missed field goal. To Week's 3 biggest game, where the LA Rams handled Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Bucs 34-24. Matthew Stafford looked strong - throwing for 343 yards and four touchdowns. Rams receiver Cooper Kupp continued his amazing start with nine catches for 96 yards and two touchdowns. Meanwhile, the Rams converted 10-of-15 third-down conversions while averaging 8.5 yards per pass attempt. LA's defense also sacked TB12 three times in the win. We also look at the Cincinnati Bengals handling the Pittsburgh Steelers in an AFC north divisional meeting. We finally switch to our favorite teams. First, the Arizona Cardinals beat Big D's Jags 31-19. Despite a #KickSix to end the first half, the Jags struggled to keep up with Cards quarterback Kyler Murray and Arizona's high-flying offense. Meanwhile, Trevor Lawrence threw two more interceptions, including a #PickSix that ended Jacksonville's hopes of its first win of 2021. While again struggling late in yesterday's game, we are both confident in Lawrence maturing into a star. Then, we look back at another classic between the Miami Dolphins and Las Vegas Raiders. Unlike December's meeting, the Raiders won it with an overtime kick 31-28. Despite an early 14-0 lead, the Raiders responded with 25 points, which included a safety. Alex was not happy with Miami's coaching especially before the safety. Finally, The Big D ends this episode by ranting against Matt Nagy and the Chicago Bears, who only managed 47 total yards of offense in a 26-6 loss to the Cleveland Browns. While rookie Justin Fields was sacked nine times, the Bears continued their abysmal and doomed game plan. I react to why the Bears should think of firing Nagy and why Chicago cannot find a confident passer.
