KellyInPhoenix Talks Arizona Cardinals & NFL Draft with Big D

In this episode, @KellyInPhoenix and I talk Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals' plans for the 2022 NFL Draft. First, we talk Kyler. Unlike several young NFL studs, the Cards and Kyler have failed to reach a contract extension. we debate whether both sides should come to a long-term extension. Kelly believes her Cards should wait and give Kyler one more year before deciding on a mega extension. I believe Kyler is improving, and Arizona should look at signing its franchise star. We also debate how the Cardinals could put themselves in a similar position to Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens. Instead of signing him to a new deal, the Ravens just exercised their fifth-year option without adding more years. While dealing with injuries, Lamar could not lead Baltimore into the playoffs. Both sides have still not agreed on a contract extension. We also look into the role of Cardinals head coach Kliff Kingsbury. Last year, Arizona started 10-2 before losing five of its last six games - including a Wild Card loss to the eventual Super Bowl Champions LA Rams. Kelly is not happy with Arizona's struggles to finish seasons. I explain how good teams often get better in November and December. Meanwhile, the Cards start off well before fading in the colder months. Then, we move onto the NFL Draft. The Cards currently own the 23rd pick in next Thursday's NFL Draft. We look at Arizona's big decisions. On offense, we both believe Arizona should look at wide receiver and the offensive line. Kelly likes USC's Drake London's big frame and catch radius. I like Ohio State's Chris Olave and Penn State's Jahan Dotson if both guys are available. With so many top receivers in every draft, this position is sure to see plenty of movement in the next 10 days. The Cards could add more offensive line help for Kyler. Onto defense, the Cards should look to address pass-rusher and cornerback. I really like Florida's Kaiir Elam to shutdown the NFC West's best receivers. Kelly responds with how the Cards need an edge-rusher with Chandler Jones in Las Vegas. Finally, Kelly stumps the Big D with a funny draft trivia question involving a former Cardinal player.
