2022 NFL Draft with David Moulton

In this episode, David Moulton and I discuss our feelings heading into the 2022 NFL Draft. First, we discuss what the Jacksonville Jaguars will do with the No. 1 overall pick. While most experts believe the Jags will either take Georgia's Travon Walker, David thinks the Jags could give Trevor Lawrence another star offensive lineman. The two likely candidates would then be Alabama's Evan Neal or NC State's Ikem Ekwonu. David is not high on either pass-rusher, and he believes a team taking a pass-rusher with the No. 1 overall pick needs to guarantee double-digit sacks every season. While Hutchinson and Walker could provide a prolific pass rush, the Jags could give Lawrence more protection and a better running game with solidifying their offensive line. The Jags appear to be leaning on drafting Walker or Hutchinson with their top draft choice. Then, we look at this year's top wide receivers. David believes six or more receivers could be first-rounders. The questions is when teams start running to draft receivers. The Houston Texans No. 13 pick could be a prime target for a team needing a receiver. Ohio State's Garrett Wilson and Alabama's Jameson Williams appear to be the top receivers. He also thinks the New York Jets with their No. 10 pick may look at receiver. David is worried about USC's Drake London injury and lack of speed and conditioning at a recent workout. After the pass-catchers, we look at this year's top quarterbacks. Unlike most years, this year's quarterbacks do not look like other top choices like Lawrence, Joe Burrow, or Kyler Murray. Liberty's Malik Willis and Pitt's Kenny Pickett appear to be the top passers. While neither guy lacks the talent of other top passers, teams almost always look for quarterbacks early in drafts. The New Orleans Saints and Pittsburgh Steelers seem to be two rumored teams looking at quarterbacks. Then we look at Cincinnati's "Sauce" Gardner and LSU's Derek Stingley Jr. David believes both cornerbacks will be top-10 picks. David remembers Stingley as college football's best cornerback in 2019. He also thinks Stingley may have been trying to prevent injury after his Freshman season. David believes Gardner could be a top-three pick on Thursday night. We conclude this episode by discussing which teams should consider aggressive moves on Thursday night. David likes the Chiefs to be aggressive with eight draft picks in the first four rounds. He also believes KC's recent aggression in dealing before and during drafts could lead to action. The Big D believes the Green Bay Packers will finally package picks for a receiver. Despite the Packers not making many moves up the draft except for Jordan Love in 2020, GB needs to give Aaron Rodgers another receiver.
