NFC North Breakdown with Alex Bleuel

NFC North Breakdown with Alex Bleuel

In this episode, Alex Bleuel and I start our davisional breakdown with the NFC North. The Green Bay Packers dominated their way to another division last season. The Minnesota Vikings, Chicago Bears, and Detroit Lions followed GB in 2021. We start with Green Bat. While the Pack traded, Davante Adams to Las Vegas, we both like GB's defense and Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Jones. Alex likes Jones with his late bye in Guillotine leagues. We also answer whether the Packers will miss Adams. Alex believes GB will be OK with Rodgers under center. I believe GB's receiving core will miss not having a true No. 1 like Adams. Sammy Watkins, Allez Lazard and 2022 rookie Christian Watson will not make enough plays. Onto the Vikings, we are both excited to see Minnesota's offense with Kirk Cousins, Dalvin Cook, Justin Jefferson, and Adam Thielen. I explain how this NFL is about putting up points, and the Vikings posseess an ability to score. Alex is worried about Minnesota staying healthy with Cook dealing with injuries. I am worried about Minnesota's defense and whether new head coach Kevin O'Connell can win as a rookie head coach in the NFL. Minnesota lost several one-possession games. The Chicago Bears are next in our breakdown. We both like Justin Fields as a potential dual-threat quarterback. I believe David Montgomery and Darnell Mooney are good offensive players. Alex believes the Bears do not possess talent and may only win 4-5 games. We also talk about Chicago's rebuild despite drafting Fields in the 2021 draft. The Detroit Lions end our NFC North teams. I really like Detroit's young core of D'Andre Swift, Amon-Ra St. Brown, D.J. Chark, Jameson Williams, T.J. Hockenson, Penei Sewell, and 2022 No. 2 pick Aidan Hutchinson. We question whether Jared Goff will be in Detroit beyond 2022 with Ohio State's C.J. Stroud and Alabama's Bryce Young likely top picks in next year's draft. We stump each other with some NFC North trivia. Then, we give our divisional winners, which will lead to a spicy disagreeement between us. Alex likes GB while The Big D likes Minnesota to win.
