UTEP faced a soft schedule to start 2-0 by beating New Mexico St and FCS school Bethune Cookman. They do bring back most of their starters, but their wins last year came against the down teams from Conference USA. In step up games the Miners were pounded 52-21 to UTSA and 59-3 to Texas. UTEP historically has struggled to compete against the physical teams and catching Boise St in this spot coming off a loss is not good. Home opener for the Broncos who returned seventeen starters including their starting quarterback.
